ADOPTION PROCESS
*Fairy Tails is a FOSTER BASED rescue,
WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY for you to come meet the pets at.
All our pets are placed in foster homes while they wait to find their forever homes.**

1) The FIRST STEP is ALWAYS FILL OUT THE APPLICATION. (scroll to the bottom of the page for the application)
2) We will contact you if we have any questions, need any more information, follow up or would like to move on to next steps.
3) Once your application has been processed, we will contact you to to set up a home visit and meet and greet and to answer any questions you may have about the pet you are interested in.
**Please note, completing the application DOES NOT guarantee that you will be approved for the pet you are applying for, it only starts the process. It also does not commit you to adopting, you may change your mind at any time by just letting us know

REQUIREMENTS
*Applicant must be 18 years of age or older

l) current pets in the home must be up to date on vaccines, and be spayed or neutered (or have a vet verified medical reason why they are not)
2) Vet Reference: We will call your vet, so please let them know we will be calling and give them permission to speak with us. Many vet offices will not release information to us without your consent. If they will not release information to us, this will delay the processing of your application.
*When you call your vet, please also verify with your vet, that your pets are up to date on vaccines.
3) Personal Reference: This is some one that is NOT in your immediate household and preferably someone not related to you.
4) Home Visit and Meet and Greet: We will complete a home visit and meet and greet. All members of the household must be present, as well as any pets in the home.
5) Landlord Approval if you Rent: We will call your landlord, so please have a conversation with them BEFORE completing your application. Landlords do not like to get call from us without a heads up from you!

OUT OF STATE and CANADIAN ADOPTIONS: Please note, we do not put any pets on transport. Adoptions must be completed in Maine. A meet and greet with ALL members of your household including any pets will be required prior to approval. The meet and greet will be in Maine. A meet and greet does not guarantee you will be approved for adoption.
Any vaccinations, health tests/screenings or health certificates required that go above and beyond what we do for our pets would be at the expense of the adopter and would need to paid prior to finalizing the adoption.

ADOPTION FEES
Adoption fees are due at the time of signing adoption contract.
We do not have a payment plan.

Due to our costs for vet care and daily care, adoption fees are not negotiable.

AVAILABLE DOGS!!
All dogs adopted out are up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, have completed Heart worm testing, have been dewormed, and are microchipped.
*Each dog is on monthly flea prevention and Heartworm prevention

OTHER FURRY AND FEATHERED FRIENDS
Sometimes we do come across other critters in need and are always willing to help our finned, feathered, or furry friends. If you are looking to adopt one of our "other" pets, please fill out the cat adoption form. We realize some questions may not pertain to the pet you are looking to adopt, but it will provide us with other relevant information.
